The customer

EVO has been a local energy supplier in Germany for over 120 years. The company is committed to finding the right balance between sustainability, security, supply, and profitability, and acts on that commitment.

In 2018 the company launched EVO Sharing, a sustainable mobility initiative with the goal of bringing people closer to electromobility through scooter sharing. After a successful launch, they are now looking to cover more areas and reach new audiences such as students across cities.

Customer story

EVO Sharing's journey to gamification started with a goal: incentivize customers to use its scooters more often. They didn't just want to launch another loyalty program; they wanted a playful approach that stands out in the crowd but stays connected to EVO Sharing's mission and brand.

EVO Sharing quickly concluded how their business model is suitable for gamification. As an electromobility provider, they can reward customers based on kilometers, distance, or minutes driven. Gamification allows them to create custom milestones, levels, and rewards that mean more than your day-to-day discount. Their existing use of the Wunder Mobility platform meant our direct integration made setup straightforward.

Our approach

1. Gamification workshop

An introductory workshop exploring the business model, goals, and target audience. We discussed what gamification is, how it motivates customers, and why it fails when not done well. StriveCloud has both the technology and the expertise in-house to make it work.

2. Gamification design plan

Our team created a plan with concrete game mechanics and recommendations fitting EVO Sharing's business goals and target audience. We chose which behaviors to reward (kilometers and minutes driven) and created EvoCoins, redeemable for free riding minutes. We added a leveling system from rookie at level 1 up to over 20 levels based on total kilometers driven.

3. Set up and implementation

We helped EVO Sharing set up our software through the direct integration with Wunder Mobility. EVO Sharing can now design new pages and add in-app gamification and loyalty features without users ever noticing the difference. A new page was added inside the app with a general overview of levels, achievements, EvoCoins, and progress.

4. Onboarding and customer success

We trained the EVO Sharing team on how to work with the control panel and set up new achievements. They started with 2 features so they wouldn't overwhelm customers, then gathered feedback to add more.

Highlights

Creating EvoCoins to motivate electric scooter usage

Customers are rewarded with EvoCoins based on achievements such as kilometers driven or minute packages purchased. They can exchange EvoCoins for free driving minutes. Future opportunities include timed challenges and lottery systems.

A leveling system linked to kilometers driven

Customers level up as they drive more. Every customer starts as a Rookie on level 1 and can grow up to 20 levels. Progress meters visualize advancement toward the next level. A tried and proven way to keep people engaged.

A new page built inside the EVO Sharing app

StriveCloud's control panel includes a CMS that lets EVO Sharing build a central overview where users find their levels, EvoCoins, and other achievements directly in the app.
